As a sci-fi enthusiast, I've been meaning to watch this show for a while. The cinematography is great and it's a really interesting story so far. It aired on Fox TV in the U.S., but an HD version of all 13 episodes was released on iTunes in April 2016 by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment UK. I'd heard that the 1080p version on iTunes was pretty bad quality, but I've yet to see an actual comparison (and the episodes are free in HD on iTunes in the U.S.!). I found a 720p rip of all episodes on DepositFiles, but these are very low bitrate (apparently it's only 1.45 GB for all 13 episodes; confirmed by comparing with the full Blu-ray rips). The show is EXTREMELY dark when it comes to blacks, something like 0 IV when compared to my reference (Arrival). Also, the episodes are split into separate files that fit into 25 GB per file, so they're very easy to manage. Note: The shows "After Dark" and "Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey" are identical except the first has commercials. I've only seen up to episode 7 of season 1, so I can't comment on what you'll be missing if you don't watch the show from the beginning. I don't know. When I try to encode for this profile, it's nearly impossible to change the SceneDarkness setting (just like in popular media players like MPC) to values below 3.0 because of "details loss". If you set it to 0, the picture looks very bad because of the high values of other parameters, too (high compression rate, high luma range). I tried to change these values in MPC HC manually, but after some time I got message that there is still some details missing in dark scenes. I do not know why... I am trying to play this file on my PS4. I am suffering from excessive banding on the dark scenes. I am playing it off of a USB hard drive connected to my PS4. Was able to fix the issue by using an external hdmi splitter connected directly to my TV. The same hdmi splitter was used for testing the scene linearity of Arrival (which had no issues). So, not sure if it's a problem with the media player or if there's some sort of HDMI handshake issue with the PS4 and certain splitters...
